Your Questions, Answered

Spiritual direction is an ancient practice of "holy listening." It is a one-on-one relationship where we look together for the presence and movement of the Divine (however you define that) in your daily life. Unlike a sermon or a class, the "curriculum" is your own experience, your questions, and your inner life.

In my twenty years as a pastor, counseling was often focused on solving a specific crisis or giving theological advice. Spiritual direction is different; it isn't about "fixing" a problem. It’s about long-term companionship. I’m not here to tell you what to believe, but to help you listen to what your own soul is saying.

No. While spiritual direction is often therapeutic, it is not mental health treatment. Therapy focuses on psychological healing and resolving the past. Spiritual direction focuses on your spiritual journey and your current relationship with the sacred. Many of my directees work with both a therapist and a spiritual director to care for their whole self.

Absolutely. Many people on The Tended Path are in a season of transition. Whether you are shifting your relationship with organized religion, exploring new ways of being spiritual, or sitting in a season of "not knowing," you are welcome here. This is a non-judgmental, inclusive, and LGBTQ+ affirming space.

Not in the traditional sense. I work with people across the spectrum—from those deep within a faith tradition to those who identify as "spiritual but not religious" or even "secular seekers." If you are interested in living with more depth and honesty, you belong here.

To begin our work together, I ask for an initial commitment of four weekly sessions. This allows us to establish a deep connection, build a shared language, and ensure that our partnership is a good fit for your journey.
After this foundational month, the rhythm is entirely up to you. Many directees choose to continue weekly or bi-weekly, while others shift to a monthly or bi-monthly "check-in" to maintain a steady practice of reflection.

We can meet on Zoom or in my office in Newport Beach, CA. If on Zoom, I will email you a link. If you have any difficulties with technology I will happily walk you through the process.

I offer a sliding scale of $75 to $150 per hour, and I invite you to choose the amount that best fits your current financial landscape.
This model is built on mutual trust. Those who are able to pay on the higher end of the scale help sustain my practice and allow me to offer the lower end of the scale to students, non-profit workers, and those in seasons of financial transition. My goal is to ensure that professional spiritual companionship is accessible while honoring my twenty years of experience and commitment to this work.
